The term mātauranga Māori literally means Māori knowledge and is closely aligned to the period of pre-European contact as it encompasses traditional concepts of knowledge and knowing that Māori ancestors brought with them to Aotearoa/New Zealand.
In this episode we have the pleasure of listening to the wonderful Aroha Yates-Smith as she reminisces about her experience with Taonga Puoro artists, in amongst stories of special memories, life accomplishments and spirituality.

Today we featured a live panel talk at Te Papa’s Rongomaraeroa marae and I took the opportunity to live stream this, much to the delight of many enthusiasts nationwide whom wanted to be present but couldn’t.
This week I’ve had the privilege of working once again with tohunga for the national launch of our Matariki holiday.
